THE LINER DIARIES

I’ve never been one to wear much if any eye liner. I always had this predisposition that liquid eye liner look dead terrible on me. I have slightly ‘hooded’ eyes so I felt it made me look a little too hard for my liking.

When I look over pictures of myself not wearing any eye liner my eyes looked a little ‘lost’. They had no definition and did not stand out at all. So I went on mission to master this whole liquid eye liner thing. If I could be a pro at doing just a thin little line then MAYBE I could get on board with this whole liner trend.
I started off just purchasing cheap black liquid eye liners to practice with. I recommend the Classics range from Woolworths as you can pick up an eye liner for around $4. I made myself wear eyeliner everyday just to get the practice in. When I felt I had the hang of things I went on to purchase some better quality products which helped tremendously and I now swear by the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – Trooper > Oh my goodness this pen is a game changer. Just WOW. The tip is so fine and makes application a breeze. I prefer to draw my liner on using the tip of the pen and this particular one is so pigmented and has a lot of product in the tip which makes things so easy! Most other pens I have tried only apply well when using the side of the tip which for me I just cannot get the hang of. The product lasts all day and I can ALMOST do a winged eye liner with this pen. I’m no pro and hey the wings might not match up on each eye but I am getting there. This eye liner is honestly a must for anyone wanting to start using eye liner or wanting to try a new product. GAME. CHANGER. And also a great price point at $28.00

The other eye liner I purchased this month was the YSL Shocking in Black. I had really high hopes for this pen as I had watched some good reviews on it. My thoughts were that it was not pigmented enough and I had to draw over the line a couple of times to really get a decent black line. I also had to use the side of the tip for better application which I found difficult when trying to get a straight line. For me this liner only lasted a few hours on my face before starting to fade to grey and wear off especially the wing. Considering the price of this pen was $62.00 I would be hesitant to recommend this product to others and will not be repurchasing.

Happy ‘flicking’!
